So the builder and his wife (me) want to put our skills to use on our own new home.  We’ve had 15 lovely years in our current home (that we built) but it’s time to downsize now that the githe builder and his wiferls are heading off to college, and for that same reason I need a project to hold empty nest syndrome at bay!  Our current home out in the countryside has been a wonderful place to raise the kids but now we’re ready for something smaller, greener, and lower maintenance.  We’re also ready to move closer to the amenities of civilization.  Besides, the current market conditions hold advantages for those who are looking for property at lower prices and rock bottom interest rates.   Charlie has been a custom homes builder in Northern Virginia for over 15 years.  Before that he spent another 15 years in various trades for high volume builders.  So why not use that experience on our own new home?
On the advice of some friends, I thought I’d share our experience in a blog, hopefully giving others some good ideas along the way, or at least a source of entertainment!
